Signs of spring...

This weekend has been exceptional! At last that annoying Mistral has stopped howling around and the sky is blue and it is warm...actually I am starting to spot the first pale pink blossoms of the amandiers starting to pop out.

They make me think of the cherry trees that bloom along the Willamette River in Portland. I think they must be in bloom there now based on the warm weather Portland has been enjoying lately!

JC and I with Maya set out to do some errands at the new neighborhood butcher and produce stores.
Some old, crumbling warehouse buildings were taken down and this entire new little center was born. You can see on the building the traces of the removed walls.

The butcher/deli is called Choc Viandes and it is a really bright shop with an amazing assortment of meat of all kinds and deli products. Maya was particularly interested by the little "cailles" (quail).

I was rather impressed by the big chandelier

and the panoramic photo of Mont Ventoux.

We walked over, it is just around the corner, but in the parking lot there is a space for vespas and motorcycles.

When we got back to the house it was time for JC to have a doctor's visit complete with an inoculation by the house doctor Maya.

We went to the library at the Roseraie Chateau and then walked around city center since the sun was out and so pleasant.

Blue sky and old buildings

Fountain by the cathedral
The next morning I saw this outside the window at 6:30 am...the moon was still shining as the sun was rising.

We explored a little more of Pernes les Fontaines and walked through quite little streets. The market is Saturday morning and in the afternoon everything was calm.

This is an "école communale de garçons"...not sure if it is still for boys only but it is an elementary school.

You can catch a glimpse of Mont Ventoux between these buildings...love the street lamps.

Here is a larger view taken from the highway...some of the white up there is snow actually and they have sledding areas set up.

This is a really sweet restaurant in Pernes...can you spot me in the far mirror of the restaurant??

JC and I thought we would take a reflection shot and there we are in the mirror too!

After the great moon view this morning the sunset from our little patio was really spectacular...it was actually fuchsia and deep purple...we had a glass of Brouilly and enjoyed the view. Sunday I plan on going to the market in Isle sur la Sorge...I love those outdoor markets!

I saw this poster the other day...I would love to find those cups! A bientôt!
