More ballades, supermarket visits and Fête des grand mères with Maya

As I write this on Thursday morning... it is still Wednesday in Portland though...the Mistral has once again kicked up its heels. It is going to be pretty darn windy according to the weather report but Emmanuelle and I are going to Avignon today anyway.

We have had some mild days here while Maya stayed with us...mild enough to go out and stroll in just a sweater which is exactly what we did.

First we checked out our shadows à la Peter Pan...

...then Maya had Papet JC practicing some of her ballet moves as they walked along the chemin. This also included a few pirouettes here and there.

We headed back homeward with some collected rocks and things.

This sign is showing us where there is a farm to visit. We are planning to walk over here next time once the weather gets warmer again. The Mistral today is going to be about 110km hour so it is strong and COLD!! Time to get those layers back on again!

Once we came up out of the forest we walked past this interesting summer rental house. It is all one longish building...just the perfect size for a summer stay.

We had to get some staples for the kitchen so we drove over to the Intermarché supermarket in Isle sur Sorge. I particularly found this sign interesting:
I would not mind having an aisle for lapin at our New Seasons or Fred Meyer! When our friends Judy and Tom were in Venasque with us one year, Judy and I cooked the best lapin moutarde from a Patricia Wells cookbook (she lives over near Vaison la Romaine). It has become a yearly tradition now and maybe we would make it more often if we did not have to order the rabbit ahead of time! The rabbit in this section was all fresh, just like the chicken.

This is another photo from the store:

this is just part of the goat cheese section...over to the right is cow's milk cheese etc. etc. On the other hand, the aisle for breakfast cereal is about one fourth the size of what one finds in the typical Portland supermarket.

Since we found some nice cheese etc. by surprise, this is what we ended up having for lunch (along with salad and new radishes)...

Maya got to have this for dessert...it is a delicious little chocolate egg with a prize inside.
As you can see this one had fairies as a theme! I checked...no corn syrup of any kind! I like that barcode in "K" shape.

We have not yet had time to sign up for exercise classes here since it is still school break and Maya is footloose and fancy free every day but just in case, we still do some semi-yoga exercises in the morning and here is proof... doing the bridge...

scissors....(this is a favorite and we say.."back,front,back,front")

and of course some abs work....

By the way...Sunday was La fête des GrandMères in France. Look what I got!! I will plant these in Anton and Emmanuelle's garden but for now they are cheerfully greeting me on the breakfast table!
Merci Maya!
