Shopping

Here is a view of what I have been seeing in shop windows here. You probably know I like to look at clothes and fashion!!!I was asked to photograph some men's clothes so I'll start there. Some of these photos may be a bit blurry because I sometimes had to rush it before someone came out and asked me what I was doing. I have seen signs around that say no photography! This is a men's store doorway near the Pantheon. The floor coverings are rugs I think but they remind me of the mosaics we saw at Ostia Antica:

That is a floral bomber jacket in a nylonlike fabric over a yellow teeshirt...lots of florals for men right now it seems like.

I liked the red bow tie on this shirt shown with a blazer...there were more bow ties in all different ways and worn with jeans.

Nice colors of the stacked sweaters on the right.

What about these pocket scarves? I also think the Italians wear their jackets closer and more fitted and have higher arm openings.

The rolled up pieces in the bottom of the suitcase are scarves in cotton gauze...in the lid of the suitcase are striped socks on the left and swim shorts on the right...a nice way to display things.
see my feet down at the right...looks like a walking suitcase!!

Here is how to wear the scarf if you are Italian:

Here are those striped socks again...I made JC buy a pair!! Look out Portland!

Okay, now on to some women's wear....this shop is near the Spanish steps...the red on the jeans leg and on the shoulder of the tee shirt worn under the white jacket is all done in sequins sewn on...they are little pointy shaped ones with the hole on one end so they sort of stick up...the white sleeves are appliquéd with what looked like lace and fabric cut outs.
those satin bue shoes have embroidery on the front...lips and lipstick!

I found the layer of black lace stencil over the stripe rather fun...also, check the way the top has uneven sides and different fabric but same colors.

No fear of pattern combinations here!

This type of "belt scarf" attached to a key chain like a charm was visible in many shops:

I am seeing lots of lace in every way...here it is layered on the collar fabric and then sort of collaged on the other side:

I took this photo for the necklace but the tunic is interesting too since it  ruches somehow on the side:

The stripe with floral on this wrap dress is really a pretty combination I think...there are florals and stripes all around and I think this is a great way to have them together! Like those floral pants too!

There are other kinds of shops and this stationary store has an air of elegance about it...I would love to buy my monogrammed stationary there! Check out the ruffle lamps...I wonder if they are glass from Murano?

After a stroll along the shop windows I came to this narrow street which I guess is reserved for motorbike parking... the only car was the black one on the left and it was delivering something:

Then, in a square along the Corso these "headless" performers...I didn't stay to see what their act was... maybe they just sat there and surprised everyone!

Back over the bridge towards home. In the background is Castel Sant'Angelo which was the pope's escape route should he have to get out of the Vatican in a hurry.
Maybe next time we'll go to the forum...for now...è tutto!

  1. COOOOOOOOOOL! Oh, I LOVE the artistry! All the COLOR! Somehow, the Italians can just pull all that off! The man scarves (I think they'd go well with the "murse" or man purse!), the striped socks (that you only see here on the golf course! But JC could pull them off out on the town!), the bow tie (which I LOVE!). Don't know about the floral bomber jacket (doesn't exactly scream MACHO like a bomber jacket should...??!). And the women's clothes! I would SO dress like that if I lived there! But I think what intrigues me most is just the way it's displayed. Like masterpieces in a museum! So why do you think they don't want you taking pics? Afraid you're casing the place? I'd be curious to know what the price tags say on some of those pieces....maybe they SHOULD be hanging in a museum! Would've LOVED to have seen the headless performers! Oh, it just NEVER ENDS in Roma, does it??!!!
