La fête de musique and Cassis part 1

La fête de musique was happening all over France on Tuesday June 21 and Carpentras had musique going on in all the neighborhoods. We picked up Maya from school and stopped for a "goûter" of ice cream as the musicians were beginning to set up.

I know...it looks like a lot of sweets but mine had pear slices in it too!!! Dinner was going to be late because of all the music events!!

Over at the Charité the children in the music program set up for orchestra and choir.
We all stood in the very pretty courtyard and the children's choir stood up on the stairs. It was just adorable. Cameras were going everywhere!

Since we were all standing I thought it would be fun to take a shot of the feet around me!!

We strolled through town after the concert and Maya and her friend Chloé gave us a little demonstration of dance in front of the rock band. Sorry the photo is a bit blurry!

Around the corner, in front of the cathedral St. Saffron, was the orchestra from the conservatory of music.

We enjoyed the music and looking around at all the people too. We went home but the music continued on into the night.

This is one of the many lace dresses going on here this summer. All sorts of lace everywhere in many forms. I think I'll have to find something too!!!

The next day was Wednesday so no school for Maya. We did some morning drawing together.

You can see it is serious business!! It is very good to draw with a child because they are so relaxed and free about it...this is a good lesson for me to learn. Maya's pictures are always so much better and freer than mine.

Our friends Chris and Chuck were going to be in Cassis for a few days so we drove over to see them and have a swim!

Cassis is just the most darling village so we were looking forward to the visit. We decide to take the non-freeway route from Avignon driving along tree shaded routes which are so "French!"

We made a quick stop over in Aix en Provence and I took this picture of the elevator shaft in the Rotonde parking structure.

The elevator compartment has glass so you look at these paintings by Cézanne as you come up. This was new to me since our last visit.

I'll have more about Cassis next time and more photos but its time to get going this morning.
A bientôt!
