Getting ready to take off

The bags are packed and now we have only the loose ends to take care of...ice cubes on the orchids, counter cleared, last glass of rosé with our kids!!!

Last week the pots on our balcony sent out these poppies to get us ready to transition to Provence!

They were joined by some sweet peas and alpine strawberries. We have summer in Portland although after a heat wave we are back in warm sweaters.

The month started out with a very special graduation for Westview High School!

The last time I attended ceremonies I was one of the teachers leading in the graduates, this time we had a great Frenchies group cheering on Heloise.

It was a really great evening and it made me very happy that I used to be a teacher. I loved that job and this event made me really think about how lucky I was!! Here goes the graduate about to receive her diploma! Congratulations Heloise!!!

Yesterday on June 11th we went to the Scandinavian Midsummer festival at Oaks Park near the Sellwood Bridge. After the parade the maypole was hoisted and people danced and sang around it.

The Estonian group Tulehoidjad were performing

and the newest member of the group Méline Paris was having her first "dance" with her proud papa Adam who was also celebrating his birthday!

It was such a nice time and Miss Méline actually slept through most of her performance! At least she's not stage shy!!

We are a little bit worried about the "general strike" announced for France on the day of our arrival. Will we be able to get our train to Avignon or will we be left standing in the airport? I'm anxious to get south...look what is waiting for us there!

I'll keep you posted and write again once we are in place. Keep fingers crossed that it will be easy.
A bientôt!
