Paris Christmas windows and more...

On our last day in Paris we met friends for lunch at one of our favorite restaurants Vagenende on the Bd Saint Germain.

I had escargots to start...just perfect! Then it was time to stroll the streets and check out the various window displays.
Near Vagenende there is a chocolate maker and they had the most incredible chocolate creations. Here you can see the Thinker by Rodin in the background behind the trees...this is all chocolate including the trees!!
I wonder how long it takes to eat this? Maybe it is something for a French office party???

Not far away around a descrete corner is this door to a boutique hotel. Just sort of unexpected and not really visible. I guess you have to know its there.

We took a bus over to see the "grands magasins" like Le Printemps and Galleries Lafayette. This is the lighting for the celebration of 150 years of Le Printemps and it goes across all the several stores.
The lights come on and off in a sweep. Each of the windows around the store was decorated like a fairy story by many of the products found at the store.

Note the Burberry scarf on this flying doll...

The window by the watchmaker Longines had a huge set of watch gears that spun around and on the wall projected pictures of Paris.

I liked the window filled with roses...made me think of Portland. A little rose fairy popped up from the big rose in the center.

The window by Sonia Rykel had all sorts of fashion dolls dancing around.

Galleries Lafayette was based on Star Wars so it was all more robots and outer space. I thought a
couple of the windows were clever like this one with the telescope that opened up on several views. The first is the inside of the store.

The people around us were oohing and ahhing over this window which I think is under the sea.

This little tree was for sale for 15 euros...the tag was almost as big as the tree which came to my mid-calf!

On the way over we waited for our bus on the quais de la Seine and I took a few photos that look "Paris" to me!

This is the passage behind the Procope...oldest restaurant in Paris...the photo is on the inside of the CD for Midnight in Paris (this for the connoisseurs among you).

Nice message above the Odeon theatre...the world is yours!

See you in Provence!!
