Au revoir Paris!

We left Paris today (Monday the 23rd) right after lunch. The idea was that we should stay at the airport so we could make our early morning flight and be first in line in case the air controllers go into full strike mode...I am writing this from bed at the Novotel Suites just 10 minutes from the airport

....I can hear some planes landing too as I write. We got a great deal at this hotel because we have now the"Carte Senior" which gives us some breaks! I guess sometimes it is worth being a senior ( but maybe not in a swimsuit)!

Anyway...since we came out to the airport early ( you should have seen how backed up the traffic was coming into Paris...still residue of the rail strike which is still going on some lines) my cousin Malle told us about a new shopping center that just opened out near the airport.
Our hotel had a free shuttle to take guests there so off we went and WOW!!! It was incredible. Airy, clean nice calming sounds like leaves blowing in the wind and gongs in the distance(!). Here are some photos.

One thing in France that I always get worried about are the lack of clean and available public toilets but out here they are quite incredible. The long hallway leading to them is perfumed with a wonderful scent...there are lounge chairs for resting, a shoe shine stand, drinking fountains and really nice areas for, washing hands, doing make up etc. More photos...

We had a nice time and it was a nice way to spend some time before early supper and now to bed..Wake up call is at 4:30 am. Yikes.

On Saturday, the first day of summer, there is the Fête de Musique going on all over Paris. Here are some views from our neighborhood...there was even a party going on at the elementary school.

We also did a final walk on the Champs Élysées on Sunday
and went over to the American Cathedral on Ave. George V where we were married...41 years ago!

(This after the Mairie du XXVIIe of course). Then we had a last look up the Champs to the Arc de Triomphe, looked in some store windows...this is Louis Vuitton.

And here is Hermes:

As we left Paris airport I took these photos. The flight took off...only 30 minute delay (whew!!).

On the flight from Paris to Helsinki en route to Tallinn we were served coffee in these cups....Marrimekko designs on them!

Tallinn here we come!!!!
