Arrival in Estonia!!!

I finished my Marrimekko coffee in time to see the coastline of Estonia approaching! It is only a 20 minute flight from Helsinki to Tallinn!

I looked down to these views...(a bit blurry perhaps because of the airplane window). See the orange/red roofs of VanaLinn(Old City) with the church and other towers surrounded by trees...I could hardly wait!
There is the airport building

the city name

the passageway from the plane
and here we are!!!

These are chairs in the waiting areas! All designs from folk costume skirts...aren't they gorgeous and colorful???

I found this poster so apropos...a French word and the Estonian woman sitting on a straw bale using her laptop computer! Such an interesting country I come from!

This is the glass window wall between departures and arrivals. It is a photo of the last song festival.
JC said "lets look for us on the photo..." and sure enough there right near the DSV letters we are...
Robert, Aare, Eda JC, Maarja, Ene and Nick!!! We are there!
Just in case you do not already know, here is the beautiful flag!

In the ladies restroom at the airport the doors have pictures painted on them...inside the booth is the story of the item on the door both in Estonian and English.

This is the message on the doorway out...I felt something like this!

Eda brought me a bouquet of wild flowers from the country. The big Jannipaev celebration had just ended that morning. The celebration takes place on the eve of St. John's day and there are dances and huge fires all over Estonia...celebration of light and summer.

Driving into Tallinn you can see the contrast of modern building surrounded by preserved old buildings.
We stopped by the Selver supermarket and here is the charcuterie section

the quail eggs (fresh)!!!!

Even the yogurt containers have folk motifs on them.

Must means black...this is bread...see the sole???(it is a brooch worn to keep things closed before buttons...ancient design).

This is a dry cleaners with Tallinn cityscape...
We had the best family gathering...11 of us around the table! Welcome to Estonia!

JC and I went for a sauna later and then turned in for the night...it was still light outside at midnight...Hey, we are in the great North! Visit to Vana Linn next! Head ood! I can't figure out how to put the necessary marks over the letters (need them in Estonian)...so maybe next time!
